An Ode to the Church Van

Oh, I wish we had a church van;
It is my prayer and desire.
If we pray and give, it will come true.
We must believe, we’ll have one or two.

Oh, I wish we had a church van
Neglected boys and girls could ride.
Souls in need can come at any time
Without having to pay a dime.

Oh, I wish we had a church van;
It has finally come to pass!
Many have sacrificed and believed
God has answered; we have received.

Oh, I wish we had a church van
With riders coming to Sunday School,
To junior camp and teen retreat.
The joy of their salvation is so sweet.

Oh, I wish we had a church van,
Oh no, it is broken down!
We can’t afford this expense,
We are becoming very tense.

Oh, I wish we had a church van,
But what a burden it has become.
It is dirty and dented and worn;
It has become our ministry’s thorn.

Oh, I wish we had a church van.
Ours is so very old.
A new one must be bought;
A replacement we have sought.

Oh I wish we had a church van.
Will people sacrifice and give again?
Yes, people have given happily;
God has provided bountifully.

Oh, I’m glad we had a church van.
I know the cost has been great,
But the joy of reaching the lost,
Was well worth the total cost.

Oh, I’m glad we have a church van.
It has been a wonderful blessing,
Our reward is waiting in glory.
Amazing grace will be our story.
